The satellite images on this page are provided by the
Satelltie Services Division (SSD) of the
National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) which provides real time access to satellite data and products for the public and government. The images are distributed by the
Office of Satellite Data Processing and Distribution (OSDPD) which is also part of NESDIS. NESDIS is part of the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the
Department of Commerce.
The satellite images on this page are primarly used for real time satellite fire monitoring for Florida. Since these images are considered "raw" data, with no analysis of fires and/or smoke, they do well to provide infrared and visible satellite imagery of Florida for general purposes.
